De Keyser’s work is characterized by subtlety and says a lot with few means. His canvases look abstract, but are usually based on motifs from his everyday surroundings such as an awning, a door handle or a tree in the garden. This compostion is also published as a silkscreen print on 50 copies by ‘Grafiek 50’’
THE ARTIST: Raoul De Keyser
Raoul De Keyser had been working since 1964 on an extensive and personal oeuvre that cannot be captured in a fixed category. In the 1960s he was seen as an important repre-sentative of the New Vision in painting, in which recognizable motifs from everyday life are reduced to abstract planes of color and lines.
