Why maintenance of your drinking water system is important
Taste
Your drinking water system contains a water filter, which eliminates harmful substances, chlorine, dirt and bad odours, creating that delicious, pure taste of your drinking water. However, over time, the filter becomes saturated and its efficiency decreases. That is why it is recommended to replace it after one year. This way, you restore its optimal performance and ensure that your drinking water continues to taste delicious.
Hygiene
Your drinking water system is an important part of your diet and health. After all, you drink water on a daily basis, and often several times a day. That is why it is important to keep your system clean. Hygienic. Free of harmful bacteria and pathogens.
Longer lifespan
By maintaining your system, you are performing some kind of reset. You restore its optimal operation and efficiency. An additional benefit is that your system also lasts longer. Imagine you don't have it maintained regularly. Then the pump is not cleaned and the risk of it breaking down increases.
What does a maintenance entail?
During a maintenance, the maintenance technician checks, cleans, descales and disinfects all parts of your drinking water system. In the process, he or she performs the following actions:
- Replacing the filter
- Disconnecting water points, removing drying residues and cleaning thoroughly
- Cleaning the drip tray
- Rinsing, cleaning, descaling and disinfecting the pipes
- Descaling and disinfecting the system
- Checking all parts
- Cleaning the outside so your tap looks like new again
The technician will draw up a maintenance report. You will receive it in your mailbox on the same day. We will also add it to your personal MyAqualex account (see below).
Another practical bonus: the maintenance technician always has CO2 bottles with him or her that you can order straight away.
How often does your system need to be maintained?
We recommend that you have your drinking water system maintained once a year. And what if you don't use your system very often? For example, because it is located in your country house? Even then, annual maintenance is recommended.
It may sound contradictory, but the less you use your drinking water system, the more maintenance it actually needs. Why? Because the water in an infrequently used unit stands still in the pipes for a longer period of time. This is not optimal for the quality of the water. And it increases the risk of bacteria buildup in your pipes. So even if you only use your drinking water system sporadically, it's recommended to have it maintained once a year.
And what if you use your drinking water system very intensively? Then it may be a good idea to maintain your device more frequently. Because the filter will then become saturated faster. Or the pump will have to work harder and therefore need more frequent cleaning.
Is it possible to maintain your drinking water system yourself?
You could basically change the filter yourself. But a maintenance involves so much more than just replacing the filter. The technician checks, cleans and disinfects all components and is equipped with the right cleaning agents to do so. And that for a small additional cost compared to buying the filter.
Another advantage of a maintenance technician: he or she takes CO2 bottles with him for every maintenance. Let's say you need three every year, for example? Then you order those from the technician right away every year. This way, you will save time. And you'll be fine for the rest of the year.

Additional disadvantage: since we cannot schedule the maintenance in advance, you will be charged transport costs.
