For AQUALEX, Thibo created an epoxy-melting holy water vessel of an angel or Holy water as it literally translates. Based on an earlier work he made in 2015 - “Memory of a lost lands-cape “ a still life of a glass bell jar containing water and an iceberg - here, too, he refers to our climate problems and links them to Christian faith.
Our Christian faith, which used to garner so much constancy for many was all part of our so-ciety. Strangely enough, since the late 20th century, the churches are rather running empty as well as the commitment to climate.
THE ARTIST: THIBO MOREELS
As an autodidact, Thibo Moreels trains himself in various disciplines: drawing, painting and creating quirky sculptures. His work has great variety and duality, which is also a reflection of Thibo’s personality: contrasting, colourful, mysterious and dreamy.
Thibo Moreels is constantly looking for that interaction between his different mediums. Alternating between painting and sculptural work helps him to look at his creations with an innovative fresh look, to reflect and evolve and to search for new ideas.
